ABOUT

The Platform Vision
We are building an audio-visual platform that demystifies college-level math through informal, relatable instruction. Instead of traditional lectures, we offer pre-recorded videos that decode dense, abstract textbook language. By integrating personality, cultural relevance, and informal tone, we help students grasp definitions, theorems, and examples in a more digestible format. These videos bridge informal language with formal concepts, allowing students to confidently enter any math classroom and succeed—regardless of the professor.
In addition, we provide small-group online tutoring and offer visual tools like color-coded thinking maps. These maps help neurodivergent learners—who may not think in linear ways—see the 'big picture' and organize their thoughts more clearly. This method moves away from fragmented textbook examples and encourages deeper understanding through synthesis.
Mission & Objective
Green Book Mathematics exists to close the gap between students and traditional math instruction by blending culturally relevant content with accessible teaching strategies. Our mission is to dismantle the barriers that prevent Black students from thriving in mathematics—particularly those rooted in reading comprehension, systemic inequities, and cultural disconnect.

The Educator & Consultant Role
Green Book Mathematics is also a consultancy. Drawing from over a decade of teaching experience, a graduate degree in Mathematics, and forthcoming doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at UCLA (Ed.D. program), our founder offers dynamic workshops and keynotes on equity in STEM education. These experiences address implicit bias, high-stakes assessment practices, and the marginalization of Black student voices. Through storytelling, data, and actionable strategies, we empower institutions to better serve their Black learners.
This is about healing inherited academic defeat—where generations have internalized the message, “I wasn’t good at math, so just do your best.” We aim to break that cycle. Our workshops help students develop a STEM identity, untangle their self-worth from grades, and embrace failure as part of the learning process. We train faculty to see and validate their students’ experiences, and to shift their teaching to be more inclusive and supportive.
Why 'Green Book' Mathematics?
The name pays homage to the original Green Book—a guide for Black travelers navigating hostile environments. Similarly, our platform is a roadmap through mathematics, helping students survive and thrive despite structural challenges. Math, as currently taught, is a gatekeeper. Green Book Mathematics trains students to become Warriors, equipped to persist through discomfort, microaggressions, and academic rigor.

Vision Statement
Green Book Mathematics is my love letter to every Black student who has ever felt defeated by math before the semester even began. Born from lived experience, research, and over a decade of teaching, this initiative exists to disrupt the educational status quo and create a new path—one where Black learners thrive not in spite of the system, but through tools designed specifically for their success.

Bottom Line
We’re not here to close gaps between Black and white students—we’re here to help Black students outdo themselves. This is a love letter to every Black student who's ever felt lost in math. You can and you will.
